What is Laser Liposuction & How Does it Work?
Laser liposuction is in fact the very latest technological advancement in the liposuction procedure. With it, a series of powerful laser beams are directed through the skin to liquify fat cells prior to being sucked out. At the same time, the laser functions to cauterize cut blood vessels, resulting in minimal bleeding.
Still one more benefit of this system, is that the laser also works to tighten surrounding connective tissues, so you also don’t see the sagging problems that often come with standard liposuction as well. Furthermore, laser liposuction is less traumatic, so no general anesthetic is required.
How Much Fat Can Be Removed With Laser Liposuction?

You have to keep in mind that all liposuction procedures are used for body sculpting. That is that they’re done for localized fat removal, rather then general weight loss. Just the same, this doesn’t mean that you have to complete a diet program prior to undergoing laser liposuction because it’s great for things like losing a double chin, or shaping up your butt.

How is This Procedure Done?

Now with this second newer system, the laser is shot through the skin surface to loosen the fat cells, and then a standard liposuction procedure is performed.
Is it Safer than Standard Liposuction?

The simple answer to this question is yes it is safer. You see, light is attracted to darker colors and it’s for this precise reason that blood vessels are cauterized by the laser which stems bleeding. Even so, keep in mind that laser liposuction is primarily done on smaller areas, double chins, fleshy cheeks, pubic mounds etc.
It’s also commonly done as a follow up procedure after standard liposuction has been performed to remove larger volumes of fat on the stomach, thighs, buttock etc. The reason here, is that not only this procedure bring less bleeding, but it allows allows for more precision sculpting, which of course means more predictable final results.
What Can Disqualify You for Laser Liposuction?
Because it is an “elective” surgical procedure, your doctor may refuse you for any one, or a combination of several reasons. To begin with, there is an ideal age group that falls between 18 and 50. In general most plastic surgeons don’t like to perform any elective cosmetic procedures on minors, and people over 50 tend to heal slower.
Then there is smoking which hinders healing and a good sized list list of several chronic health conditions that can count you out as well. This list includes but is not limited to heart problems, kidney problems, diabetes, chronic liver problems, any number of blood disorders, and even mental issues that effect a persons judgment.
